Taking a KiwiSaver contributions holiday

A KiwiSaver contributions holiday is a break in employee deductions and employer contributions.

Follow this process if your employee requests a contributions holiday and you pay them through the education service payroll:

Receive employee's KS6 form and complete employment details

Your employee will return the Contributions holiday request KS6 to you after they've completed Section A Personal details.

Complete Section B Employment details, using these employer details:

Contributions holiday request KS6

Copy the form then post it to Inland Revenue

Post the original to the Inland Revenue.

Place the copy of the completed Contributions holiday request KS6 on your employee's file.

Tell your employee what happens next

Inland Revenue will send your employee a contributions holiday approval or decline letter.

Pay centres will stop an employee's deductions within two pay periods of a contributions holiday being approved by Inland Revenue. If your employee's deductions don't stop, send a copy of their approval letter to your pay centre.
