Overpayments

An overpayment is when your employee receives more pay than they are entitled to.

Make sure you don't cause overpayments:

• Do not duplicate information you send to your pay centre.
• Tell your pay centre about employees taking leave without pay, before they take it.
• Tell your pay centre about resignations as soon as they happen.
• Always check your staff usage and expenditure report as soon as you receive it.

If you find an overpayment, you need to:

• contact your pay centre immediately
• tell your employee they have been overpaid.
