Consider these public holidays

  • Christmas Day.
  • Boxing Day.
  • New Years Day.
  • The day after New Years Day.
  • Good Friday.
  • Easter Monday.
  • Your Anniversary Day (if it falls within a term break and your employee would normally work on the day of the week that it is observed).

Exclude these public holidays

  • Waitangi Day (because it falls on a Saturday).
  • Anzac Day (because it falls on a Sunday).
  • Labour Day (because it falls within term-time).
  • Your Anniversary Day (if it falls within term-time).
  • Queen's Birthday (because it falls within term-time).

Example

Mary works at your school every Monday. Easter Monday is a public holiday that falls within a term break on a day of the week Mary would normally work. Mary is entitled to be paid for this public holiday.

Field 9. Additional paid holidays entitled to

Enter the additional paid holidays that your employee is entitled to, that fall during a term break. Do not include holidays already included in Field 7 or Field 8. You will not be able to enter additional paid holidays if their annual leave entitlement is five weeks (in Field 10).

Consider these additional paid holidays

  • The day after Easter Monday.
  • The day after Boxing Day (for administrative scale staff who would normally work on the day of the week that it is observed).

Example

Mary works at your school every Monday and Tuesday and is on the administrative pay scale. The day after Easter Monday is an additional paid holiday that falls within a term break on a day of the week Mary would normally work. Mary is entitled to be paid for this additional holiday. The day after Boxing Day is a Sunday, and because of this it is observed on the Monday. Mary normally works on a Monday so she is entitled to be paid for this additional holiday.

Field 10. Annual leave entitlement

Enter your employee's annual leave entitlement. If this is five weeks, then your employee is not entitled to any additional paid holidays (in Field 9).

Field 11. Additional paid special leave

Enter any paid special leave.
