We would like to thank the South Island schools not affected by the earthquake for your patience and for sending in your payroll instructions early. This greatly helps Datacom focus on ensuring that school employees in the affected area are paid, particularly those schools who have not been able to send in any instructions.
Some schools in the Selwyn and Waimakariri Districts may be open on Monday.
Our focus is to ensure that all current school employees in the South Island, specifically those affected by the earthquake, have money paid into their bank account.
Please do not attempt to contact the Christchurch paycentre as the building is not occupied and staff have been sent home until further notice. Datacom’s Service Desk in Wellington (ESPC) are managing the payroll on behalf of the Christchurch Paycentre.
We are endeavouring to provide the best service we can in this situation. The priority is to ensure that employees receive money in their bank account and that the payroll remains stable.
The Salary Assessment Unit (SAU), which is part of the Christchurch Pay Centre, is also closed until further notice.
Please do not post any applications or information to the SAU until further notice.
The Ministry and Datacom are working towards an alternative solution.
We will provide further updates next week.
The focus remains on ensuring that all school employees, including the earthquake affected schools, are paid.
Processes are being put in place to ensure all employees in the affected schools will receive a payment.
We can confirm all timesheets for South Island schools received before 5pm on Thursday 24 February will be processed.

Closedown for South Island schools for pay period 2325 was brought forward to 5pm, Thursday 24 February.
Datacom and the Ministry have put in place their emergency plan to ensure minimal disruption to the whole payroll.
Action required by South Island Schools
There is no change to the normal deadline for North Island schools for pay period 2325 and business as usual continues. Closedown for North Island schools is still at 5pm on Monday 28 February 2011.

This year, due to MITA changes, ESP has reviewed the overall process and no rollover process will occur this year. Schools need to complete a MITA application form for 2011. Application forms are available on the Education Service Payroll website.
Schools were advised of the change in process by letter in December 2010.
If you use e-Reliever, you need to import the 2011 pay periods into your spreadsheet before you can use it in 2011.
Your 2011 Start of Year forms were due back at your pay centre on 7 January 2011.
