Event based allowances are allowances that have a defined list of criteria that must be met before an employee becomes eligible for payment (ie. you cannot pay an event based allowance in advance for work that will occur in the future).
The payment rate of an event based allowance is stated in the appropriate Collective Agreement and is generally set as a specific rate for each occurrence that has generated the allowance.

All Tutor Teacher Allowances (TTA) and Maori Immersion Teaching Allowances (MITA) for 2011, including the MITA $1,000 additional salary payment, stopped on 27 January 2012.
Schools will need to complete TTA and MITA applications forms for their staff for the 2012 year. Please do not send TTA applications until you know the beginning teacher’s MoE number and registration details, and have recorded them on the application form. »»»
